Jackson Avenue Takeover Lights Up Board of Ed Meeting

The Mineola Board of Education meeting on April 16 felt more like a community celebration than a business assembly. In what has become affectionately known as the annual Jackson Avenue Takeover, students and families arrived in full force to showcase the incredible talent, heart and curiosity thriving at Jackson Avenue School.
Our administrators, teachers and Board members had the distinct honor of recognizing students from five standout clubs, each representing a different pillar of our school culture:
Honored Clubs & Student Achievements
Jackson Brave: Our leaders in character! These students were recognized for their commitment to bravery, kindness and setting a positive example for their peers every single day.
- Joy Club: Living up to their name, these students were honored for their efforts in spreading positivity and community spirit throughout the halls of Jackson Avenue.
- Gardening Club: Our young environmentalists were celebrated for their "green thumbs" and their dedication to hands-on learning about nature and sustainability.
- Science Club: The Board recognized our future innovators for their relentless curiosity and their success in tackling complex STEM challenges and experiments.
- Newspaper Club: Our student journalists were commended for their dedication to the "beat," keeping the school community informed and giving their fellow students a powerful voice.
A Community Effort
The "Takeover" is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated faculty advisors who mentor these students and the families who support their passions. Seeing the boardroom filled with proud parents and enthusiastic students serves as a powerful reminder of what makes Mineola such a special place to learn and grow.
Congratulations to all of our Jackson Avenue honorees! You make us #MineolaProud.
